The musician has opted to give the cash to the MVT, in acknowledgment of the vital role small stages fulfilled in his early career.

"As an artist couldn't be pursuing what I am doing today if it hadn't been for all the shows I did around the area, and further afield, when I was beginning," remarked Fender. "These spaces are legendary, but they are in difficulty."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these spaces have shut down – about 16 percent of the whole industry in the UK.

The donation helped spaces that were facing potential shutdown due to issues caused by flooding, fires and bereavements, as well as permit problems, conflicts and noise complaints.

Other venues were granted financial assistance in improving amenities and sound and lighting systems that positively impacted performers and fans.

"The concept that funds from concerts in major spaces helps the independent spots, where it all starts for musicians like me, is just logical," Fender has stated.
