An individual who spiked candy with tranquilliser and distributed them to youngsters at a youth camp in the area has confessed to sexual offenses against two children both between nine and ten.

Jon Ruben was arrested after eight minors and a grown-up became sick at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.

The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he stood at the courthouse on the end of the week.

However, he refused to admit one particular crime he was accused of, which was against a young boy.

Ruben was kept in jail before a subsequent court date on 28 November.

'Treat game'

The legal representative, handling the case, detailed the defendant's actions to the judicial body.

She stated his those affected were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer camp which he operated.

The man played a "treat game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel said, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to consume candy "as fast as possible".

She informed the proceedings Ruben had engaged in this activity with the children "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously become sick the following morning.

She said the man had been able to explain this for many years as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had suspicions in July 2025.

The legal representative stated further: "Recently" his stepson had worries about what was going on, with valid cause.

"They chose" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."

The legal counsel said materials including lubricant, Vaseline and syringes were located, and his stepson notified the police about his concerns.

She stated Ruben proceeded to engage in the "treat game" with six boys that night - that Saturday - and they were all sick the next day.

"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that time," she continued.

The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was investigating the police response of the events.

Mrs Prior said the children were struggling to walk due to being ill, so the family member notified the law enforcement again.

She stated the man then conducted the "sweet game" in a room of five minors.
