Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Police state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then located multiple other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police say initial examinations suggest the substance was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are not yet cognizant of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the residents for information.
A senior official stated the vandalism left him stunned and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine victims by a shooter focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
